All great apes are now facing a worldwide crisis. Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Orangutans and Bonobos face imminent extinction (within the next decade or two) from the raging "bushmeat crisis" yes, these highly intelligent creatures are being "eaten" into extinction by another species, humans unnecessarily, as a consequence of irresponsible logging and mining in Africa, which fuels the illegal bushmeat trade. The best way to end this crisis and secure the future for great apes is to "communicate" your feelings about it. Please join us in doing so by responding to one or more of the following urgent letter-writing or fundraising campaigns now in progress.

Stop the Destruction of Gorillas by Hi-Tech Companies (via Coltan Mining)
|
|
The eastern lowland gorilla populations in the Kahuzi Biega National Park of the Congo are
in serious trouble. They have been faced with civil war, illegal hunting and most recently, mining for the rare mineral known as Coltan (aka tantalum). Coltan demand is rising because it is used most computer chips and cell phonesand the miners are hunting and eating the gorillas and destroying their habitat in the process.
We urge you to join in the letter-writing campaign provided here
to make the companies responsible (eg, Intel, Motorola and Nokia) change their behavior while there is still time!
