In 1993, The Gorilla Foundation received a generous gift of more than 70 acres of land on the island of Maui in Hawaii to build a gorilla sanctuary. The climate there is warmer than in California, and the habitat is more natural for gorillas. If we can raise enough money, we will move there. The gorillas will have more space to play freely. One day, the preserve may also welcome other gorillas who need a home.
