What does Earth Day mean to Koko?

Dear Friend,

Kokos message to the Paris Climate Conference last year, as the "Voice of Nature," generated many questions about Kokos real understanding of what man is doing to the Earth. Here's how Koko feels:

Koko's Earth Day Message 2016

Living with Koko for more than 40 years has shown us that she usually understands more than is assumed. In fact, she absolutely does have an opinion on how humans treat the earth it makes her sad.

And it makes her happy to know that following the climate conference, people are coming together to make positive changes.

To Koko it is instinctively obvious that we should take care of Mother Earth, the provider and protector of all beings.

Koko makes people care.
We believe that she can make them care about the Earth.
A Michigan teacher writes:

"The children learned about the importance of world conservation. They fell in love with Koko. Koko taught the kids compassion for the needs of the world's animals."

Here at the Gorilla Foundation we continue to focus on interspecies communication — we believe Conservation through Communication is not only possible, but essential!

With your help we can make a difference for great apes and the Earth:
