About KokoFlix
KokoFlix
is a section of Koko.org that features clips of the Gorilla
Foundation's extensive collection of interspecies communication
video footage, started over 30 years ago in parallel with
Project Koko and still going strong.
It is intended to be both an educational resource, as
well as entertaining, relaxing and at times perhaps even
awe-inspiring. There is a message, or "lesson",
associated with every video clip; sometimes obvious and
at other times subtle. But the overlying message of KokoFlix
is that interspecies communication is one of the most
effective ways to achieve conservation, and KokoFlix was
born becaus video is clearly one of the most effective
ways to convey interspecies communication.
Look for subtitles in some of the video clips, indicating
what Koko is signing; in other clips, the subtitles will
be left out, but we'll include links to individual sign
video clips (in the "Learn Koko's Signs" category)
where you'll be able to learn the associated signs and
hence understand those videos without subtitles.
We expect to be adding new Koko (and friends) video clips
every week or two, which you'll be able to find in the
Archives listed chronologically; or via the Search button,
or within selected Categories.
KokoFlix will be evolving over time, with more videos,
more descriptions, more links, and more ways to collect
feedback from you. We hope you enjoy it — please
let us know by clicking the Feedback links.
Thanks for joining us in our mission of conservation
through communication!
