Dear Friend,
In this video we see a glimpse into some of Kokoโs favorite things โ enjoying a carton of roses, browsing through a book, and gently interacting with her beloved kitties.
All of this footage was taken when Koko was between 44 and 45 years old, highlighting how these interests remained consistent and meaningful throughout her life.
Whether savoring fresh flowers or showing affection to her cats, Koko continued to express the same curiosity, sensitivity, and emotional depth that made her story so compelling.
While her tastes and preferences evolved during her life, the above 3 activities remained steadfastly among her favorites.
I believe all gorillas deserve the opportunity to explore and develop their own interests. That is the essence of autonomy โ a key to their well-being.
