This weekโs video shows one of Kokoโs most tender qualities, her gentleness:
As she walks through her room in the above video, a kitten named Moe rides calmly on her back. Koko moves slowly and carefully, and even lowers herself to the floor so Moe could climb down if he wished. Moe chooses to stay with her.
Kokoโs awareness and care for smaller, more fragile beings never stopped amazing me. She instinctively adjusted her strength and movements to help others feel safe. Moments like this remind us how deeply gorillas can connect with those around them.
