Dear Friend,
In this video, filmed in 2001, Koko spends time outdoors gardening at her home in Northern California’s Santa Cruz Mountains. She shows us the joy of just being present with Nature, and appreciating our vital connection to it.
Koko was often referred to as the “Voice of Nature” because she could communicate with humans (in sign language) and thus created a bridge between us and another species. But she was more than just a bridge, she radiated love for all species, and modeled caring for the natural world, through all of her relationships, communications and charismatic presence.
We deeply miss her, and at the same time are grateful for having had the opportunity to know her so well, and share her life, and insights about gorillas, with the world through these videos.
With Koko-Love,
