Have you ever tried to crack an uncrackable nut? Koko has! Here she finds an object she believes is a nut and asks me to open it. What do you think it is? …
In the above video, when I tell Koko the object is hard to crack, she doesnโt give up. Instead, she carries it with her, studies it from different places, and even tries striking it with another object to see if that might work to get it open.
What stayed with me is how she remains engaged with the challenge. She experiments, seeks comfort when she needs it, and then returns to trying again.
Even at the end, she is still holding onto the object, still curious.
You can see that gorillas are thoughtful, persistent learners who stay with a problem in their own quiet, steady way.
