Dear Valued Supporter,
I just wanted to check in and make sure you saw my email earlier this week about World Gorilla Day. I know you care deeply about protecting gorillas, and that’s why I’m reaching out again.
Last week, I shared how our KokoKids project is helping to turn poachers into protectors by showing them the incredible intelligence and emotional depth of gorillas. But the truth is, without your support, we can’t keep this momentum going.
Please, if you can, make a donation today at: koko.org/world-gorilla-day-2024
These majestic creatures are still disappearing at an alarming rate, and we need your help more than ever. Even a small donation can make a big difference.
I’ve forwarded my previous email below so you can easily read it again if you missed it. Please take a moment to read through it and consider making a donation today.
Thank you so much for all you do to protect Koko’s family.
With Koko-Love,

Subject: Honor Koko this World Gorilla Day!
Dear Valued Supporter,
Today is World Gorilla Day!
As we celebrate the incredible legacy of Koko, we’re reminded of how much we’ve learned about the intelligence and emotional depth of gorillas. Koko taught us that these majestic creatures share a deep connection with us, one that transcends species.
Yet, despite all we know, lowland gorillas like Koko are still at risk of vanishing in our lifetime. The poaching and killing of these gentle giants continues at a rampant pace, threatening their very existence.
Here’s where you come in. We’ve been working in Uganda and Cameroon to educate communities, even former poachers, about the value of gorillas. And it’s working—this education is transforming those who once hunted gorillas into their fiercest protectors.
But to keep this momentum going, we need your help. The truth is, without additional support, our efforts could stall, leaving these magnificent creatures vulnerable. Your donation could be the difference between life and death for countless gorillas.
Would you consider making a donation today? Even a small contribution of $5, $10, or $25 can provide educators with the tools they need to protect gorillas. Your support today can help ensure that Koko’s legacy lives on.
With Koko-Love,
Dr. Penny Patterson

PS: If you decide to become a monthly donor this World Gorilla Day (at $10 or more per month), you’ll receive a beautiful Koko Plush gorilla as a special thank you gift in honor of Koko and World Gorilla Day.
