“Ndume” means “male” in Swahili, and you can see from this photo that Koko”s companion Ndume is about as male as you can get: 400 lbs, 6 ft (when standing) and a beautiful silver back.
You may also be able to tell by his eyes that he is sensitive, thoughtful and quite opinionated. Most people never get close enough to a male gorilla to notice things like this. Thank you, Ron!
