Dr. Penny Patterson and a staff member scavenged the local rummage sale today looking for enrichment items for Koko (shown above) and Ndume – whose birthday (Oct. 10) is being celebrated this Sunday (Oct. 16).
The “catch” was quite impressive, and included a couple of colorful 1-gorilla tents, lots of beautiful pillows, stuffed animals, dolls (including the male version of Koko”s favorite doll: “waterbaby”) and sporting items (basketball, soccerball and even some plastic snow saucers – the gorillas love to sit on them).
