Koko is not giving up on the prospect of having a baby and we are doing everything in our power to help make it happen (eg, larger environment, female gorilla companions, more privacy with Ndume, strategic alliances, and super-caring and insightful staff).
In the meantime, Koko contents herself with lots of baby dolls (human, gorilla and orangutan), with whom she practices the art of nurturing, signing and taking everywhere she goes. Will she teach her baby sign language? Will her baby reach new heights in language acquisition and interspecies communication? No one knows for sure, but we”ll sure take good notes when it happens.
