Gorillas are treated as a food commodity in certain parts of Africa – where there”s lots of logging and mining going on, and food supplies are scarce (but not absent). In order to end this “Bushmeat Trade” it will take large numbers of people to wake up and realize that gorillas are far too conscious, emotional, intelligent, empathetic (… i.e., like us) to allow their human-driven extinction to continue. Wouldn”t we all feel better if we helped them survive, and gave our children”s children a chance to know them?
