Like any captive-and captivating-gorilla, Koko is interested in her environment. However, since Koko happens to have learned a human language, she can use language to get some of this information. As Koko gets older, she seems to be increasingly interested in improving her reading and writing skills – in addition to her already impressive skills of using American Sign Language and understanding spoken English.
