In this video (KokoArc Video 570), Koko has just finished opening presents on Christmas Day. She received some bedding — sheets and blankets — as gifts. As she sits at her porch she works on building a nest (a behavior performed by free-living gorillas on the ground or up in trees using branches and leaves).
Koko comments (in sign language) on the flower print and asks Penny to come closer to see the design. They share a moment enjoying the new blanket.
Koko signs spontaneously about her surroundings and shares her observations with Penny.
We miss these interactions, and will remember and learn from them forever.
